1-to-1 Consultation

Yoga in Sanskrit means union of the mind, body and spirit. The practice of yoga is the continual work in progress of trying to figure out this balance. As a yoga instructor, I work to point out the way that has worked for me and those that I have taught. But the way to access this balance can vary a lot depending on where you are.

 

Sometimes, going off balance is natural because life is inherently destabilising. 

Balance isn't necessarily staying at the mid-point of two opposing forces. Balance does not mean becoming immune to the vicissitudes of life. It does not mean refusing to feel the ups and downs in order to keep 'calm'.

 

Balance is a state of having the least resistance. When there is less resistance, there is more room for silence, clarity, where wisdom and insight naturally arise. Life pushes you to one direction. Balance isn't forcing yourself to go the other way, which only causes more friction.

 

Balance is seeing that life has pushed you to where you are now, acknowledging that and watching any reactions and feelings that may arise in the process. In the midst of strong winds, we often fall into our habit mode. We often can't tell whether what we are instinctively doing to cope is causing more resistance.

 

A private consultation can help to identify what you are facing now and what you need to drop the resistance that is obscuring you and what is. A lot of it is relaxing into it, just as you would relax into an asana for the body to open. 

As a fully trained mental health first aider, zen practitioner and hatha yogi, I use different somatic, therapeutic and meditative methods to help my clients better understand where they are now and what they need to get a taste of this state of least resistance. Some people prefer to work through their process through physical movement. Some people prefer to talk. Some people prefer to learn from the wisdom of our ancestors through philosophical and spiritual readings.

 

Depending on what my clients need, I offer a package of therapy that best suits them at this moment in time.
